We managed to have enough face to face meetings to allow Prints to be judged on more than half the Competition months, so were able to award the Prints category this year. </p><p>59 Members received awards acknowledging all their achievements over the year, including Photograph of the Year 2021 and Photographer of the Year 2021. The President's Award was given to David Sandison in recognition of his fantastic efforts over 5 years as the Club Treasurer. The start of this year was marked by the continuation of Zoom meetings for Competitions and Committee meetings. However, we did manage to hold 7 face to face competition meeting too. Thank you to David for a great job.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">On social media, our public Facebook page is still very popular and I think that page is a great way to attract new members. Our website also presents opportunities to publicise the Club.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p style="margin: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: times;">David Archdall has done a fantastic job with our Newsletters with 12 being sent out this year.</span></p><p style="margin: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: times;"> </span></p><p style="margin: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: times;">Regarding our Club's competitions, as you know the Club had had to organise our monthly competitions both via Zoom and in person, which has been very challenging for both our competition secretaries. This year saw 7 face to face competitions. As you know we changed from having 6 entries to 4 per person this year. Our monthly competition entries decreased accordingly from last year to 653 this year, which is a huge effort from members, our competition secretaries and judges who have all leaned to work with Zoom. Thanks to Joy for organising the judges.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p style="margin: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: times;"> </span></p><p style="margin: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: times;">The Committee has met regularly this year via Zoom to keep the Club running smoothly, both formally and informally for discussions on particular subjects. Membership was an all-time low and discussions were held regarding the dissolution of the club. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: times;">Joy and Allan Griffin, both new members to the club in 2010, stepped forward to fill critical committee positions and thus began the establishment of the sound membership and financial foundation that the club still benefits from. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: times;">During her time as a member, Joy has held many roles within the club to the benefit of its members. She has been Secretary, Vice President, Judges Convener and SAPF Delegate. While also a committee member, Joy takes an active role with the ongoing functioning of the club. She helps on club nights; welcoming members and visitors to the club with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. She participates in Interclub outings, club events, manning PACC stalls at local fairs and club promotional exhibitions and mentors new club members. She demonstrates an extraordinary commitment and outstanding service to her club.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: times;">She has been a continuous competing member of the club for the past 11 years, winning many trophies and awards over the years that she’s been a member. She represents the Port Adelaide Camera Club at the clubs’ annual interclub competitions as well as at the South Australian Photographic Federation’s Annual Exhibition and exhibits her photographic work at State, National and International level. </span></p><div><span style="font-family: times;">Joy has gained her Australian Photographic Society’s letters of AAPS (Associate of the Australian Photographic Society); an honour which is awarded to photographers who display photographic excellence. <br /></span><span style="font-family: times;">Joy is also a well-liked and much respected judge for the SAPF. This year has been marked by the start of Zoom meetings for Competitions and Committee meetings. The Committee has worked very hard this year to try and find ways to engage Club members online and since restrictions eased in person.<br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif"> <br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif" style="color: #303030;">I think you will agree that some months felt endless while others flew by. However, 2020 has had an optimistic side too and though as a Club we were forced to change the way we conducted our Club business, we have not only survived as a Club but have thrived. The following outlines how our Club has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months.<br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">As you know, last year we developed a more flexible constitution and this year we again changed some areas to allow for the use of virtual technology for the conduct of Club business and to fine tune some matters that were overlooked in the adoption of the new constitution in 2019. The new constitution has been accepted by Consumer and Business Services; therefore, I'm pleased to say tonight's meeting is operating under the new constitution and its rules.</span></div><div><span face="Arial, sans-serif"><br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">So, what did we do this year that helped the Club to thrive?<br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif"> <br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">To start the year, we had one face to face competition with some fantastic entries. We also </span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">had a great visit to the Gorge Wildlife park that was well attended.<br /><o:p></o:p></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif"> <br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">Our lectures series this year started with Dr Liz Coates presenting an in-person lecture on Covid 19. <br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">Additionally, this year we had a some very popular, </span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">online Zoom Meeting lectures;<br /><o:p></o:p></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">Paula – Copyright issues<br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">Geraldine – Photobooks<br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">Livia – Portraiture<br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">Trevor- Astro photography<br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">Just recently a more informal meeting was arranged at the Hall by David Sandison.<br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif"> <br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">We had 2 weekends away this year to the Flinders Rangers and to Robe and the feedback from these weekends was excellent. This is a huge effort from members, our comp Sec and judges who have all leaned to work with Zoom. This year Colin has live streamed most of our competition meetings to Facebook, which is a huge undertaking.<br /><o:p></o:p></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif"> <br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">The Club was very lucky to be donated a Toyo View Large Format Film Camera which we hope to start using next year.</span><span face="Arial, sans-serif"><br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif"> <br /></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif">The Committee has met at least monthly this year via Zoom in order to keep the Club running smoothly.
